Frequently Asked Questions



Q: How do I place my ad online?
A: It's easy, just login to the site to load your ad.
  1. Login to the site using the login box within the Advertiser Centre. If you are new to heraldjobs.co.nz you will need to register by clicking on the ‘register now’ link.
  2. Click on the ‘Place an Ad’ button and enter your job listing details.
  3. After you've finished, click on the 'preview’ button to see what your listing will look like before you publish your ad. If you are satisfied with your listing select the ‘publish’ button.
All ads remain on heraldjobs.co.nz for 30 days however you can remove your ad at any time. If you choose to reactivate your ad you can do this at no charge (as long as it is within 30 days of your original publish date) and your ad will then remain on the site until its original expiry date - 30 days after it was first published.

Q: Can I upload my logo or an image for my ad?
A: Yes, you have the ability to upload up to 4 logo’s/images to each ad.  In the “Display Options” section of your ad loading template, select the number of images you want displayed on your ad from the dropdown box and click Use. 

If you have already uploaded images to your Image Library you can select them from the dropdown box next to the Image position.  Once you have selected the desired logo you can check this is the correct image by clicking “View” to the right of your screen. 

If you want to use a new image - click browse, search for the image, highlight and click Upload.  Your logo will then be saved and stored in your Image Library and is now available to use.  Simply click on the dropdown box next to the image position and select the required logo for the new logo to appear on your ad. 

Please Note:  The positioning of your logo’s has been defaulted to appear as outlined below:
Template 1:   1 image   - displayed top left of the ad
Template 2:   2 images - displayed on the top left and top right of the ad.
Template 3:   3 images: 1 = top left, 2 = bottom right, 3 = bottom left of the ad
Template 4:   4 images: 1 = top left, 2 = top right, 3 & 4 to the right of your ad

Q: How do I check results/ see how many people have applied for my job?
A:You can access live and up-to-date information about the ads you have placed, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week... all from the comfort of your PC. Checking to see how your ad is performing and view applications and resumes before the expiry date. This gives you the opportunity to modify your listing if you are not getting the results you need.

To check your results simply log on to your Advertiser Centre

Click on the Job Listings link from the left hand side menu, and your current listings will be displayed
A summary appears next to each listing:
S = Search. The number of times your ad has been returned in a search.
V = Viewed. The number of people who have viewed your ad.
A = Applied. The number of people who have applied for your job online.

Q: My job isn’t getting any applications – what can I do?
A: There are a number of things you can do to make sure your ad gets the best response.
  • The great thing about having your job online is that you can change the copy. So if your ad isn’t getting the response you want. Simply log on and add or edit copy in your ad. Click here for tips on writing effective ads.
  • You can add multiple locations and/or occupations to your job to make sure you are reaching all the right candidates. For each additional location or occupation added there is a small charge.
  • Make your ad stand out from the crowd by listing it as a top job. By having a top job your ad appears at the top of the search results page and you can effectively target passive candidates through nzherald.co.nz with a teaser ad.

Q: Can I extend the time my ad appears on heraldjobs?
A: Your ad stays on heraldjobs.co.nz for 30 days - to extend your ad simply upload it again by selecting the copy button (note you will be charged the single ad price).

Q: How do I remove my ad from the site?
A: To remove your ad from the site simply login to your Advertiser Centre, find your ad on the Job Listings page and click the “Withdraw” button.  Your ad will no longer be visible on site.

Q: Can I save my ad?
A: Yes you can save an ad and publish it at a later date. Simply choose ‘draft’ from the status drop-down box and click ‘go’.
  • Save Template – click ‘save template’ for your ad to be stored for future use.
  • Using a Saved Template - to use a saved template, go to ‘place an ad’ and in the ‘company information’ section choose the saved template from the drop-down box.

Q:: Can I preview my ad before it goes live on the site?
A: Yes, to see how your ad looks before it appears on the site click preview. Once you are happy simply click the ‘publish’ button and your ad will appear on.
